Social Media Applications

In Social Media, Business Trumps Popularity

by Jonathan Gilliam, Momentum Factor

A prospective social media client asked me this week, “how much do you tweet?”

My response? Having high popularity scores and constant tweeting does not mean one is effective at the BUSINESS of social networks. That’s like assuming people who eat out a lot know how to run a restaurant.

Using Social Media to Promote Our Clients

We believe in promoting our clients, not ourselves. We think in far more than 140 characters. We are businesspeople and view the expert application of platforms like Facebook and Twitter as a tool to accomplish business goals, not a final destination.

If your “consultant” touts his or her popularity and activity online (“Look at all my tweets, everyone loves me!”) perhaps you should wonder how they’ll have time to serve you, and whether they even can.
