For the first time in direct sales history, a truly independent self-regulatory body has been created to enforce social media and marketing rules among all direct selling companies, and their independent sales force.
Starting in April, the Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) begins monitoring and review of earning and product claims in the direct sales channel with a particular emphasis on social media posts. When appropriate, the Council will refer non-compliant direct selling companies (both DSA members and non-members) to the applicable federal and state regulators.
