Panel Session Description –

Rulemaking is Back in Style: Ongoing FTC Rules Impacting Direct Selling

(Sept. 21 from 11 am – 12 pm Eastern)

The past 18 months have seen two of the most major rules proposed by the Federal Trade Commission in years that would regulate direct selling. A new rule on Earnings Claims would have profound implications for how salesforce market their business. An expanded scope of the Business Opportunity Rule to cover direct sellers could create a barrier for many to join the business.

However, other rulemakings being considered by the Commission could also impact direct selling businesses — endorsements and testimonials guidelines, a proposed ban on non-compete agreements and negative option marketing would also change our business. Learn from experts on what is being proposed and the prospects of each of these unique rules.
